sadly we attack secular music so hard dat we down play holy hip hop and say its holy jus cuz you throw the name of JESUS n ur ryme- most ( so called) christian rap artist lead jus as many people (down the wrong path) as the secular artist do - How iz this u might ask. with doctrine that is not biblical. many rap artist rock the stage, lift up themselves, talk about the power they so called have and brag that they so called got the DEVIL on the run - lol- O REALLY- how iz ur muzic holy without a regenerated life - most dont even know how to lead people to salvation - they say 200 people got saved they said the sinners prayer- that aint biblical - most have beef and jealous of other artist but yet they say they love GOD. some dont want to serve. many teach the prosperity GOSPEL which aint the GOSPEL at all. 2 top it all off most worship with only there lips.
Rap is made holy by those who live holy. God says in His Word, Be ye holy, for I am holy (1Peter1:16). Holy Hip Hop is to be set part for God's use or it's not Holy Hip Hop. So is God using the music to preach His Word and display His glory? If not then what's the purpose?
Check out the messages being pumped by secular rap....pride, get money, get women, sex outside of marriage, being permiscuous, adultery, murder, hate, envy, jealousy, covetousness, lacisviousness, orgies, alcoholism, drugs, selfish gain, greed, etc., etc.....everything a holy God hates! Therefore the message they are preaching should not be rapped by "christian" rappers nor listened to as well. We should make music that is in exact contrast to the world. Some think it's ok to serve God and listen to T.I. or 50, or Jay-z, Young Buck, Lil Wayne, etc. Why would you want to? Why would you want to rap about God and listen to this trash at the same time?
The more we are satisfied in God and making Him our treasure and sufficiency, the less we want to have anything to do with the deeds of the darkness.
It has always fruetrated me to see "Christian Rappers" or "Holy Hip Hop rappers" who feel they need to imitate the world's system in order to reach the world. This, to me, is the opposite of what it means to be Holy. Why are we so afraid to be who God made us to be? We are supposed to be unique. In fact, we were designed to be different. To be sanctified literally means to be "set apart". I have to be honest..when I first got saved, I quit rapping altogether. Being a "gospel rapper" wasn't an option for me. I ran from it, ya'll. The reason? I didn't like it. It all seemed fake to me-like a bunch of people who sound, act, dress, and rap like everybody else they condemn. In my opinion, we are supposed to sound better. Our skills should be tighter. Our production should be better that any other form of rap music out there. We should be the pinnacle of real music with substance and excellence. Why is is not this way? Why does it seem like this is "just rap music"? Why is the "Holiness"missing in Holy Hip Hop? It's simple fellas: The Annointing of God is missing.
We're too busy trying to be the first platinum gospel rapper. We're too concerned with getting on stage to perform and entertain and "Get it crunk" for Christ. We're too busy trying to sound, act, dress, and rap like the big league rappers in the world. In the midst of our busy-ness, we've failed to be about God's Business. Have you ever heard of a Gospel Rapper doing an alter call at the end of a performance? Exactly. How many of us are in Love with the Art-more that we are with the God who created it? How many true-to-heart WORSHIP songs have you heard in "Holy Hip Hop"? I'm talking about something that really Glorifies and worships the Lord-nothing else? Exactly. If you really study where we are in music today-as it relates to Holy Hip Hop, how many rappers are really truly giving their testimonies in the music-and being transparent-as opposed to hiding behind the track? Exactly. Not to mention...there are so many rappers who are trying to do this-who aren't really CALLED to do this. There goes the "spirit of excellence" out of the window. Nothing can be Holy if it's not under God's controll..and as long as WE stand in the way-with our "own" motives-our "own" dreams, our "own" ideas, and our "own" way of doing it, we forfiet God's "ownership" of our gifts, by thinking we can do it our "own" way. Perhaps if we would just step out of God's way, submit to his will, and let him use us HOWEVER HE wants to-even if it means going totally against the grain-even if it means rejection from the secular-and the gospel arenas-even if it means we don't get the recognition and the major platform we feel we deserve-even if it means God is calling one of us as an indivigual to do something completely different, and take us out of rap altogether, then perhaps we could see and experiance change the way God wants us to.
I have so much to say about this subject. I have so many frustrations concerning what we call Holy Hip Hop, but I'll stop here. What makes Christian Rap Holy? Let me put it this way. The music changes when our hearts change. Only in that order.
I am in agreement with the statement, 'music changes when our hearts change'. We can not only apply the statement to music, but our whole life.
Each and every one of us has to love God with our whole heart, mind and soul. How many of us consult Him on everyday decisions? How many of us realize that there has to be an inward change first? We all have to change our way of thinking, talking, walking and associations. We all need to start looking in the mirror to make sure that we are doing what's right.
All these distractions can cause us to get side-tracked from God's purpose for our life. Just think of how it would be if each and every one of us would stay focused on a personal relationship with God. We wouldn't have time to analyze what others are doing.
There is a time and a season for everything. God has an appointed time for everything and He did not say it would be easy. In fact, He said that His yoke is easy and His burdens are light. So why are we questioning what is happening in the world today, whether people are fake or not, whether people are sincere or have integrity. We should just be available and know His voice for ourselves.

Worship is a personal thing. We can go for hours and talk about what or who is genuine or not but the bottom line is the "fruit". If a song doesn't provoke any thought or cause you to actually think about servin God then it isn't gospel... Just a hot track!
I think christian rap can be holy. It's all in the words you put on the pad. And when you put good christian lyrics with bangin' beats. You got good christian rap muzic.
i believe God can take the unclean and make it clean as he did with us sinners.....
its not about the ''christian rapper'' its about the renewing mind and change life of a christian who raps.
the fruits of the spirit determine that...
be blessed..
Hip hop is all about stories that convey a message..Christian rap and hip hop should be no different. The problem is when dudes (and dudettes) just tryin ta "get out there" for the sake of gettin in the game. We need to be creating compelling material..no matter where we're from. for HIS glory. i like that track Platform by Cam..it says a lot about this problem. We gotta be usin music as a platform for ministry instead of the other way around.
Amen, man this is something that God has really been speaking to me about of late. So much so that I even switched up the lyrics a whack load of my tracks. If it ain't the Jesus of the Bible you showing then It ain't Holy! John 3:30 - "We must decrease, that He might Increase." If that ain't showing in your music then I think you need to check yourself.
It's sad but true. I have ministered thru songs an watched other christian rappers start hating on each other. Thats not God at all. Some artist just want to make it in the music industry and not spread the real good news of God.
